Ballerina movies animation 2025 Ballerina, officially promoted as From the World of John Wick: Ballerina, is an anticipated American action thriller that marks the fifth installment in the John Wick franchise.

This film serves as a spin-off, taking place in the timeline between John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum, released in 2019, and John Wick: Chapter 4, which debuted in 2023.

Directed by Len Wiseman, the screenplay is crafted by Shay Hatten, and the film features Ana de Armas in the leading role.

The film also features the return of beloved characters from the franchise, with Anjelica Huston, Lance Reddick—who makes his final appearance on screen—Ian McShane, and Keanu Reeves all reprising their iconic roles from previous installments.

By October 2019, the project gained further momentum with the appointment of Wiseman as the director, while Chad Stahelski was confirmed as a producer by May 2020.

By December of the same year, the main cast was finalized, paving the way for principal photography to commence shortly thereafter in Prague, Czech Republic.

Additional action sequences were scheduled to be filmed starting in February 2024, indicating a continued commitment to delivering an engaging cinematic experience.

Premise Set in the timeline between John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum and Chapter 4, the narrative follows Eve Macarro, a skilled ballerina who has embraced the life of an assassin.

Driven by a deep-seated desire for vengeance, Eve embarks on a perilous journey to avenge her father’s untimely death, navigating the treacherous underworld that intertwines with her newfound identity.

Her quest not only tests her physical abilities but also challenges her emotional resilience, as she grapples with the duality of her artistic background and the brutal reality of her chosen path.

Cast Ana de Armas portrays Eve Macarro, a talented ballerina who embarks on a journey to master the lethal skills associated with the Ruska Roma, a clandestine group of assassins.

Throughout the film, her character finds refuge under the watchful eyes of Winston and Charon, who provide her protection within the confines of the New York Continental Hotel.

This setting not only serves as a sanctuary for Eve but also highlights the intricate dynamics of loyalty and survival in a world filled with danger and intrigue, as described by her co-star Ian McShane.

Lance Reddick portrayed the character Charon, the concierge at the Continental Hotel in New York City, who served as a close ally to Winston Scott and had a notable acquaintance with John Wick.

This role marked Reddick’s final performance as Charon, and it was also his last on-screen appearance, released posthumously.

His portrayal of Charon was characterized by a blend of professionalism and understated charisma, contributing significantly to the atmosphere of the Continental Hotel, a pivotal setting in the John Wick franchise.

Reddick’s passing adds a poignant layer to this final appearance, as fans and colleagues alike reflect on his impactful career and the memorable characters he brought to life.

Norman Reedus portrays Daniel Pine, a character shrouded in mystery. Reedus has expressed his admiration for Keanu Reeves, particularly noting the physically demanding nature of the roles in the film series, which he describes as requiring an “I-need-a-bottle-of-Advil-all-day-long type of job.”

He draws a comparison between the meticulously choreographed fight sequences featured in the film and the more relaxed, less precise action scenes found in his own series, The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon, which has been airing since 2023.

This contrast highlights the different approaches to action and choreography in the two productions, showcasing Reedus’s appreciation for the intricacies involved in high-stakes cinematic combat.
